Leading up to retirement

Hey allI just had my last vet appointment with Gentry. I just wanted the vet to varify that what I was noticing with his gate was in fact what I thought was happening. He plays like a puppy but when he works, he favors the right side. Although the authoritis is mild, The meds aren't working and he can't work very well at the end of the day.

I sometimes have second thoughts, but I know what I need to do. I'd rather retire him early and have a few years to let him be a good pet for someone than to have him work until he can't work at all and put him down after three or four months as happened with my first dog.

Kinda interesting process to go through. I'm really praying that this next dog can work longer. I reeally plan on working with the community instructor through the process should the same or similar thing happen again. I'm also afraid that the Seeing Eye will say, "what are you doing retiring this dog1" I don't thing there's anything to be afraid of. But, I'm still not sure what't gonna happen.

ell, better go for now.
